Just Search Just Got It

As Internet World rapidly approaches, here at HP Group we’ve been gladdened to see that the IW social portal is being used by people from across the industry as well as those who want to discover how digital marketing can grow their business.

The Internet World social portal has been developed by our team and is meant for use by anyone and everyone. Tweets, blogs, pictures and news stories are already giving people a taste of the exciting developments that are happening right now in internet marketing. As the word ‘social’ indicates, it is open to all so that new ideas and products can be discussed.

We’re particularly happy to see SEO outfit Just Search using the social portal. They seem to be finding it a valuable resource for their seminar (on Tuesday 27th April 10:00 – 10:30 Advertising, Search & Affiliate Theatre). CTO of Just Search Neil Walker even gave the portal a mention on his personal blog, where he talks of how inspired – indeed tickled – he is by the page.

The Just Search seminar looks set to be a truly enlightening one, full of fascinating facts regarding SEO, no doubt. We’ll see you there!

So remember, if you’re going to create a social portal on your website think about:

  • Staying ethical. It’s about your customer’s interests – not “just” those of your own firm.
  • Be inclusive and unbiased – don’t just talk about your own brand – because that’s just boring!
  • Display specific hashtags on your Twitter feed – preferably not a made up one that only your company uses.
  • Monitor what is being displayed to keep out spammers.
  • React quickly to what people are saying – say thanks to people for using your social portal as a resource.
  • Remember that letting only a select few have access to the portal defeats the object!

    After reading both blog posts (this one and Neil Walker’s blog post) I can’t believe an “expert” agency like Just Search would even try and pick holes in others work after the cock ups they’ve had in the past!

    Resorting to these kind of tactics just looks like desperation to me..
